GentleLASE Laser - Introduction
This is the fastest and strongest hair reduction laser which can, in
some people, give superior results to IPL. It is also very safe and has
the best track record of achieving permanent hair reduction in all skin
colours. This is because it comprises two separate lasers – the
Alexandrite laser for hair reduction on people with fair skin and the
1064 YAG laser for use on those with dark or tanned skin. It also has
the most effective surface cooling of all lasers, meaning that your
experience will be less painful when compared with other conventional
hair reduction lasers.

GentleLASE Laser - How it works
The lowdown
The intense
light of the hair removal laser heats the melanin in the base of the
hair follicle, permanently destroying the hair bulb. The feeder blood
vessels to the hair bulb are also destroyed.
How long does the procedure take?
5-60
minutes per session, depending on the size of the area targeted. Due to
the machine’s power and effectiveness, fewer treatments will be
required compared to most other laser hair removal machines. You
require 4-8 sessions over about 12 months, due to hair growth stages
and areas targeted.

Do I need to prepare the area before I'm treated?
The
area is shaved before treatment, so there is no need to grow hair prior
to treatment. Avoid tanning (using the sun, solarium or fake tan) for
4-6 weeks prior, as darker skin is more difficult to treat. And don't
pluck, wax or use electrolysis or a depilatory cream for at least 4-6
weeks before treatment. Shaving is ok.
What happens during the procedure?
The
large head of the laser hair removal machine is passed over the area to
be treated delivering heat. The heat targets the hair bulb and not the
skin. The treatment can be a little painful (similar to an elastic band
on the skin), but numbing cream can be used – the Candela GentleLASE
Laser delivers effective cooling to the surface of the skin,
significantly minimising any pain, especially when used on sensitive
areas.
How long will my recovery be and what can I expect?
Recovery
is immediate, though the area may be a little red for a few hours. For
the first 24 hours, avoid the sun, exfoliation and tight clothing as
these can irritate the area. Your hair should not be waxed or tweezed
during the treatment period as this encourages hair growth and
strength. But you may shave, bleach or trim the area.
