What is a permanent filler?
This treatment adds volume immediately and the product is not reabsorbed by the body. This product is a revolutionary, unique and fully tested series of injectable hydrogels made of 2.5% "polymer filler" and 97.5% water. This makes the material soft and uniform. It is injected under the skin where it can't be seen or felt and remains in place permanently.
What areas can be treated?
- Wrinkle treatment:
- Forehead frowns
- Folds from nose to mouth
- Depressed corners of the mouth
- Lip augmentation and contouring
- Chin augmentation
- Cheekbone augmentation
- Cheek augmentation, e.g. lipoatrophy
- Nasal correction/Rhinoplasty
- Post-traumatic and other corrections
How does it work?
Composed mostly of water, the body accepts the gel readily and only forms a thin membrane around the implant which helps to keep it in place; as the gel is very elastic it moves with all facial expressions.
The water content of the hydrogel is exchanged with surrounding tissue fluid, providing a natural implant. The hydrogel is injected just under the skin using a very fine needle, where it immediately adopts its long-lasting shape.
Is there any downtime?
No.
The injection requires no surgery, is almost painless, can be performed as an outpatient procedure, and requires no recovery time and minimal post injection attention.
1 out of 1500 patients have a risk of developing transient swelling and tenderness near injection sites which, if not caused by an infection, will resolve in a couple of weeks.
When do I see the results?
The injectable filler provides immediate and long-lasting results.
How many treatments do I need?
You will see a result with your first treatment. If you desire further enhancement, to compensate for the signs of progressive ageing, this can be accommodated.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the area, treatment usually takes just a few minutes. The area will be treated prior with a topical anaesthetic and post treatment with ice to reduce any potential swelling.
How long will the results last?
Scientific research has shown that this gel stays in place for at least 8 years.
Because skin ageing is progressive, if required, extra injections can be conducted to maintain / obtain the desired result.
Some of our clients choose to start with temporary fillers as a trial before progressing to this more permanent solution.
Is it safe?
This unique gel is permanent, non absorbable, non toxic, non allergenic, does not migrate from the injection site. This product has been thoroughly tested over 10 years on 30,000+ patients, and used in 100,000+ injections since 2001. Clinical trials prove that side effects are few and harmless. The treated area may be a little swollen (the lips particularly) but this usually disappears within a day or two.
Who can have this treatment?
Be sure to inform your physician if you have had cold sores (herpes labialis) around the mouth at any time in the past. If you have an active outbreak, your treatment will need to be postponed.
Active acne, psoriasis or other skin condition will be assessed by the doctor before treatment.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should not be treated.
Be sure to inform your physician of any allergies that you may have.
New permanent fillers cannot be injected where previous permanent implants are present. Nor can they be made where a temporary fillers still exists. You must wait at least six months after the previous injection before being treated.
Post Treatment Care
- Do not expose the treated zone to intense heat (sun bed, sunbathing) or extreme cold in the first days following treatment. The purpose of this is to avoid inflammation of the zone where the injection has been made.
- The area should be kept clean and touching of the area avoided for the first few days after treatment.
- Any discomfort should respond to paracetamol. Should any problem arise it is important to contact the treating physician, as most problems are easy to fix if caught early.
Why are we not allowed to name this product, and why are we calling it ‘permanent filler’?
Australian TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) regulations have prevented the naming of this well known treatment as it is deemed to be direct advertising of a "doctor only" medically prescribed S4 medication. It is an extremely safe treatment that has been used successfully in facial cosmetic medicine for many years, providing it is administered by a qualified doctor who has been well trained in the correct technique.
